The famous hymn SYV (31) gives a symbolic
account of the manifestation of the universe as a release of the
powers in the Supreme. The Sanskrit word for creation is
sŗj, i.e., the power
inherent in a potential way is released. The hymn here has twenty-two verses, of which
sixteen are also in the Rigveda (10.90.).
The translation given here is that of the famous verse SYV
(31.18) (not in Rig Veda) where the sage declares:
I have known this mighty
puruşha, who is
refulgent as the sun beyond darkness;
by knowing him alone one transcends death,
there is no other way to go.
