Three mantras of the third sukta of the first mandala are
addressed to Sarasvati. Besides being the mighty river Sarasvati
the goddess of inspiration the power of the inspired word. |

naĥ sarasvatī
vājebhir
vājinīvatī |

yajňam dadhe
sarasvatī |

Translation |
|
May Sarasvati,
the purifier rich in wealth - the intellect her treasure - desire our sacrifice. |

Inspirer of the truthful, rouser of the
noble minded, may
Sarasvati accept our worship. |
(11) |
|
Sarasvati,
mighty ocean, she rouses up with her light
and brightens all intellects. |
